Shey Phoksundo National Park


The park is situated in the mountains of Western Nepal, basically Dolpa and Mugu districts, and stretches in an area of 3555 square kilometers. Established in 1984, this is the largest national park in the country. The park is rich in blue pine, spruce, cypress, poplar, deodar, fir and birch. Snow leopards, blue sheep, goral, Himalayan tahr, serow, leopard and wolf are the major animal types found in the park. The most important birds found in the park include Impeyan pheasant Danphe, raven and snow partridge.
