Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area


The park and conservation area is situated in Sankhuwasabha and Solukhumbu districts and stretches across 2330 square kilometers. Makalu-Barun has over 47 varieties of orchids, 67 species of medicinal and aromatic plants, 25 varieties of rhododendron19 species of bamboo, 15 oaks, 86 species of fodder trees, 48 species of primrose, 84 varieties of fish and over 400 species of birds. Similarly, it has several endangered fauna like red panda, musk deer, barking deer and wild boar.
