Adorably beautiful Rara Lake is located in western part of Nepal in the lap of northern Himalayan range. Lake and its surrounding are so attractive and captivating that it makes everyone spellbound. Rara is famous because of flora and fauna, high Himalayan pass, wide plateau, local culture and art and living style.

Rara Lake, a clean high-altitude lake situated at the elevation of 2990 metre ringed by pine, juniper and spruce forests and snow capped Himalayan peaks is main attraction of Rara National Park. Spread over 14 square kilometer, deepest of part of the lake is 170 metre. The lake is oval shaped with an east-west axis, and has a maximum length of 5 km and a width of 3km. Water of the lake which flows from its bank ultimately merges with Karnali river through gorges of Khatyang brook.

Early in the morning, it gives a lot of pleasure to stroll around along the bank of the lake. It's even more pleasure to roam around in the boat made by local craftsman early in the morning on the surface of calm and firm water. After the noon, water starts to get wobble with speed of breeze coming from west to east. It looks like wave when the water which seems to be in deep slumber in the morning starts getting bigger. Sound of waves splash against eastern bank of the lake echoes every now and then and beautiful scenery appears to be enchanting. After circumambulating Rara throughout the day, next to see full view of Lake are Chuchemara lake and Murmatom view point. It takes 4 hours to reach Chuchemara Lake located at 4039 meters and 2 hours to reach Murmatom located at 3400 metres.

Large ravine of Karnali river of western Nepal and its surrounding hills and foothills of Himalayas have still remained out of reach for people. Buddhist people who live in the border area adjoining China and Nepali speaking Hindus living in the foothills below have their own culture identity. Feel like desolate place, Rara is not only beautiful and enchanting but it's also a sought after destination for adventure trekking lovers and intrepid travelers alike.
