Situated in Northwestern Nepal, the park lies in an area of 106 square kilometers and is the smallest park in Nepal. It was established in 1976. The park stretches in Mugu and Jumla districts. The park holds the distinction of having one of the biggest lakes in Nepal, the Rara Lake, which covers an area of 10.8 square kilometers. The park is habitat to flora and fauna typical of coniferous and deciduous forests.
