Parsa Wildlife Reserve


The reserve was established in 1984. It stretches across Chitwan, Makwanpur, Parsa and Bara districts in an area of 499 square kilometers. The reserve has flora and fauna typical of sub-tropical forests. The eye-catching feature of the reserve is the presence of over 30 species of birds such as giant hornbill, peafowl, red jungle fowl, flycatchers and woodpeckers, to mention a few. It also has a wide variety of snakes including the feared king kobra, common cobra, krait, rat snake and python.
