Balthali

Standing on a plateau, just beyond Panauti about 40 km away from Kathmandu, is a small sleepy settlement of Balthali village; which rests at the juction of Roshi and Ladku Khola rivers. Situated on a hamlet balthali (1650 m) is an outstanding place of isolation and relaxation amidst a surrounding of typical Nepali countryside with terraced rice fields and ochre thatched farm houses. The peaks of Dorjee Lhakpa, Langtang and whole eastern mountain range rests clear and bright on the northern horizon and lush green high hill of Mahabharat Range rests int he south. The village a perfect retreat for solitude and relaxation amidst countryside where times stands still almost like in the Middle Ages. The surrounding area is thickly forested with luxuriant growth of various flora and fauna. Colorfull rhododendron, magnolia and Sal trees that cover the hills undulate and open out to terrace fields. After dusk a myriad of flickering of lights below the valley of Balthali Village comes alive. Nature lovers and birds watcher can spend days exploring and discovering some exceptional piece of nature, culture and rural traditions.
